🎙False Climate Solutions and Just Transition: How Prepared Are We Really?

Guest Speaker: Taylan Kurt – SEFIA (Sustainable Economy and Finance Research Association)

In this episode of the CLocalization project’s expert interview series, we welcome Taylan Kurt from SEFIA.

Taylan critically examines the concept of “transition energy,” often presented as a stepping stone in the energy shift, and uses data to explain why carbon capture and storage technologies (CCUS) are often part of the problem rather than the solution.

The episode also explores what “just transition” truly means, how economically and socially vulnerable groups can be protected during this transformation, and the essential role of local governments in achieving inclusive climate policies.

Drawing on field research in Turkey’s coal regions, Taylan highlights that just transition is not only necessary but also realistically achievable.

This conversation is a valuable resource for understanding how climate action must align with social and economic justice.
