Within the scope of CLocalization – Localization for Climate Change Adaptation Project, we examined various good practice examples in Spain and Portugal to inspire strategies to be developed at local level.

Within the scope of our visits

– In the cities of Vitoria-Gasteiz and Barcelona in Spain,

– In Portugal, in the cities of Cascais and Lisbon,

successful local government practices in the field of climate change adaptation were examined.

During the field trips, case studies on climate-focused urban planning, nature-based solutions, social inclusion, disaster risk reduction and participatory governance models were observed on site. Through interviews with local governments, public institutions and civil society organizations, policies and practices carried out at different scales were evaluated comparatively.

The knowledge and experiences gained will be an important reference point in the development of the local climate change adaptation strategy being prepared for Konak district.

CLocalization project aims to create not only a regional but also an international learning process through such experiences that enable knowledge transfer from local to global.
