Konak Horizontal Adaptation Workshop

As part of the CLOCALIZATION – Localizing Climate Change Adaptation project, the second workshop was held in collaboration with Konak Municipality and the Social Climate Association, focusing on the impacts of climate change on different social groups through a horizontal approach.
With the participation of children, youth, women, refugees, and persons with disabilities, this workshop served as a valuable source of data for the participatory climate adaptation plan currently being developed for Konak.
During the workshop, participants discussed both the current impacts of the climate crisis on social life in the region and the potential risks that may arise in the coming years. They shared the changes they have observed in their surroundings—ranging from access to water and infrastructure challenges to extreme heat and social exclusion.
Each group also presented solution proposals based on their specific needs. These suggestions will be used in the next phases of the project to strengthen the social dimension of Konak’s local climate adaptation strategy.
By bringing the voices of diverse communities into decision-making processes, the CLOCALIZATION project aims to develop not only technically sound, but also just and inclusive climate adaptation policies.
