Young Climate-Friendly Municipality Pact
The pact aims to strengthen the active participation of youth in the decision-making mechanisms of local governments regarding the fight against the climate crisis and climate change adaptation processes. It targets bringing youth’s climate-focused proposals to the Municipal Council agenda through commissions and reflecting these proposals in the municipality’s strategic plans, budgets, and policy documents.
Within the scope of the pact, the following are envisaged:
Informing youth about the climate crisis,
Creating spaces and centers where they can participate in climate action,
Adopting budgeting approaches based on youth and climate responsiveness,
Opening green spaces and climate-focused workspaces for youth use.
Furthermore, it aims to include youth in decision-making mechanisms in all planning processes that directly concern them—such as green spaces, education, health, and disaster management—and to develop inclusive, innovative, and resilience-enhancing climate adaptation policies together with youth, in line with sustainable development principles.
